Since 1997 the New England Philharmonic has had the privilege of serving as the orchestra in Residence at Simmons College. In this capacity the orchestra rehearses on campus weekly, provides complimentary tickets to students, faculty, and staff for all performances, offers workshops and master classes, holds open rehearsals, and collaborates in performance with the Simmons College Concert Choir and other members of the College community.
Simmons College is a nationally recognized private university located in the heart of Boston. Founded in 1899, Simmons was the first four year college in the nation to provide both liberal arts and career preparation for women. Today it has undergraduate programs for women and graduate programs for women and men, including the world’s only graduate business program designed specifically for women; highly respected coeducational graduate schools of library and information science, health studies, and social work; and graduate programs in education and the liberal arts. Simmons is consistently ranked as a top regional university.
