Since its inception, the New England Philharmonic has maintained its unique mission to perform the orchestral works of today's composers along with the standard and lesser-known compositions by the masters of the last 250 years. This all-volunteer orchestra is composed of amateur and professional musicians and students who donate their time and talent to make this mission a success.

The New England Philharmonic will hold auditions in early September. Details will be posted on this page as soon as arrangements have been finalized.

The New England Philharmonic has openings for the 2010-11 season for:

  • first & second violin
  • viola
  • cello (including principal)
  • bass (including principal)
  • clarinet
  • bassoon
  • trumpet
  • percussion

All interested musicians are invited to audition. For more information or to schedule an audition time please email [click to reveal email address]. Please be sure to include your full name, mailing address, phone number, email address, and instrument, and your preference of audition day (Wednesday or Thursday).

Audition requirements are two pieces or excerpts of the performer's choice from standard repertoire, one technical and one lyrical, plus some sightreading.

Rehearsals are held on Sunday evenings from 7:15 to 10:00pm at Simmons College, on the Fenway. Rehearsals are already underway.

Concerts for the 2010-11 season are on Saturday October 30, 2010; Sunday December 12, 2010 (afternoon); Saturday February 26, 2011; and Saturday April 30, 2011, all at the Tsai Performance Center in Boston; and on Sunday June 5, 2011 (except for violins or violas) at Jordan Hall.
